ACT 5 Final Reflection

Reflecting back on the story of Romeo and Juliet, think of a modern day (something that has happened in the last decade) story that has similar themes to this story. With a partner, brainstorm a list of themes in Romeo and Juliet and write down how they are present in the story.

Then, pick one theme to focus on and find a modern day event with a similar theme.With your partner, discuss the ways in which this story is similar to that of Romeo and Juliet.

Next, find a news article or video clip about this modern -day story and link this to your blog. Working with your partner, write 3 paragraphs about this article or video and how it relates to Romeo and Juliet.

Your paragraphs should follow this format:

Paragraph 1: Explain the theme you chose and how it is present in Romeo and Juliet (cite examples from the play).

Paragraph 2: Briefly summarize the article/news story you found and explain how the theme is present in this story.

Paragraph 3: Explain the similarities and differences (at least 2 each) between the modern-day news story and Romeo and Juliet. Include your chosen theme in this discussion.
