Romeo and Juliet - Act 1 Reflection

Here are your Act 1 Questions:

1. Character foils: A foil is a character who highlights, through contrast (differences), the qualities of another character. Identify two characters in Act 1 who are foils for each other. What do you learn about the characters by seeing them in contrast to one another?

2. Both Romeo and Juliet forshawdow in the Act - what do they forshadow? Make a prediction of what you believe might happen. Juliet's foreshadowing is located on pg. 966, Romeo's on 963.

Extra Credit Question: Works with tremendous critical acclaim can sometimes fail to live up to our expectations. Is Romeo and Juliet living up to your expectations? Explain.
