Act 2 Reflection

Here are your questions for Act 2:

** Answers should use examples from the text and be well-thought. Each answer should be AT LEAST 3-5 sentences.

1. Why do you believe Romeo and Juliet rush to get married after declaring their love? Support your inference with evidence from the text. Then explain whether you think the young lovers get married too soon, and why or why not.

2.   On page. 983, re-read Mercutio's lines 77-81. In these lines, Mercutio expresses his relief that Romeo seems to be himself again. What is Mercutio's opinion about people who "brood over love"? What might be the purpose of including Mercutio's opinion on love?

3. What aspects of the play have you found to be the most realistic? Explain. What aspects do you find hard to believe? Explain.

Extra Credit: Shakespeare is often praised for this masterly use of figurative language, or language that communicates ideas beyond the ordinary, literal meaning of the words. Find two examples of particularly striking figurative language in Act Two. Give a quote of each, and explain what it means.
